This stunning production is based on the beloved classic story by Hryhorii Kvitka-Osnovianenko, "The Witch of Konotop," but with a bold and modern twist. The play merges the mystical and the folkloric with urgent contemporary social and political themes. By revisiting Ukrainian traditions and weaving them into today’s discourse, Uryvskyi has created a deeply resonant piece that speaks to both historical and current issues, particularly the role of women in society.

The play challenges traditional stereotypes about witches, highlighting themes of female strength and independence. It also addresses fears and superstitions, as well as historical persecution and the oppression of women, especially in the context of societal and social norms.

The director of the production chose an innovative approach, blending authentic Ukrainian traditions with modern theatrical techniques and styles. The minimalist set design, where every decorative element holds symbolic meaning, allows the stage to be completely filled with actors' performances, lighting, and sound effects, immersing the audience completely.
