The World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will expand their presence in Ukraine, focusing on the recovery of housing and critical infrastructure.
This was announced by Ukraine's Ministry for Communities and Territorial Development.
"The World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) will continue to support Ukrainian initiatives on recovery, needs assessment for reconstruction, and winter preparedness," the statement says.
These agreements were reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister for Communities and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba and the World Bank's Regional Director for Eastern Europe, Bob Swaim.
According to Kuleba, the ministry's current focus is on providing housing for internally displaced persons and preparing infrastructure in communities, including for people returning from the front. These issues will be taken into account in bilateral cooperation.
He also mentioned that the ministry hopes for continued cooperation with the World Bank on major transport routes and maritime ports.
Swaim noted that the World Bank has a clear plan for continued collaboration with the ministry, and discussions on further support for the housing sector will resume in two weeks.
