From February 15 to 25, one of the most prestigious international film festivals will take place in Berlin, 74th Berlin International Film Festival.

During the event, the world premiere of the Ukrainian film "The Editorial Office" will be held. This is the second full-length film by Roman Bondarchuk, shot in the Kherson region in 2021. The film is presented in the Forum program, curated by Arsenal - Institute for Film and Video Art in Berlin, focusing on exploring new forms of cinema, according to the film company Arthouse Traffic,  which acts as its distributor.

Director Bondarchuk mentioned that for the entire film crew, "The Editorial Office" is more than just a movie.

"It's a special experience that tested the limits of our capabilities and changed our lives. While editing it, we returned to our hometowns, many of which are now under occupation, many are ruined, and memories of them exist only on the screen. I am grateful that the film found like-minded people in the Berlinale team. I am delighted that the world premiere will take place with their authoritative support and accompaniment, in front of the best film professionals, critics, and audiences from around the world. For us, it is also an opportunity to talk about Ukraine, reminding of the need for support in our struggle at one of the most influential film festivals globally. A struggle in which in December 2022, defending Ukraine, editing director Viktor Onysko heroically perished, and in December 2023 - actor, performer of the role of Beekeeper Vasyl Kukharsky," Bondarchuk said.

About the film

In the wild steppes of southern Ukraine, a young nature researcher named Yura is looking for an endangered species of groundhog but instead witnesses a crime. Eager to expose the truth, Yura takes his photo evidence to the local newspaper's editorial office. However, he quickly realizes that nobody there cares about pursuing justice. While a big war is looming over the horizon, Yura's naive worldview is splintering in a storm of fake news, rigged political elections, and mysterious cult rituals. On his quest, the hero is about to find out who he really is an endangered species of a good man or just a loser?
