The Romanian authorities declared the Russian military attaché in Bucharest and his deputy personae non gratae.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.
The Romanian government decided to declare the Russian military, air, and naval attaché in Bucharest, as well as his deputy, personae non gratae for engaging in activities that violate the provisions of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The Russian side was informed about this on March 5 during a summons of Russia's chargé d'affaires in Bucharest, Elena Kopnina, to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"The Russian side considers this step to be unfounded and unfriendly and reserves the right to take retaliatory measures," said Kopnina.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not name the diplomats, but Romania Journal media reports that they are Viktor Makovsky and his deputy, Evgeny Ignatiev.
