In Ufa, the capital of Russia’s Bashkortostan region, a fire has been reported at a local oil refinery following an apparent attack.

According to preliminary information, two separate fire sites were observed at the facility, located roughly 1,400–1,500 km from the Ukrainian border.

Videos circulating on social media show explosions and heavy smoke near the refinery.

UPDATE

The successful operation was reported by the Security Service of Ukraine.

Two major oil refining enterprises were hit — Bashneft-Novoil and Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim, both part of Rosneft and an important component of Russia’s fuel and energy sector.

According to the SSU, primary oil processing units caught fire after the strikes.

“The AVT units at the enterprises, which are the ‘heart’ of the plants and ensure primary oil refining, are burning,” the Ukrainian special service said.
