On January 17, a memorandum of cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Albania was signed in Kyiv, focusing on European integration and the EU accession process.
The document was signed by Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Minister of Justice, and Igli Hasani, Albania’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The memorandum sets the stage for closer collaboration in the EU accession process, reflecting the ongoing negotiations of both nations toward full EU membership.
Objectives of the Memorandum
The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation in European integration, including the negotiation processes for EU membership.

- Information-sharing about EU financial support programs.
Albania applied for EU membership on April 28, 2009, and became an official candidate in June 2014. In October 2024, the EU approved the formal start of accession negotiations with Albania.
The memorandum takes effect immediately upon signing and will be implemented within the legal frameworks and resources of both countries.
