Russian forces attacked the port infrastructure of Ukraine’s Odessa region with cruise missiles, killing one person, according to Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

“The enemy has once again attacked the Odessa region with cruise missiles. Port infrastructure was targeted. Fires broke out at the site and were contained by emergency responders. Unfortunately, one person was killed,” Kiper said.

Emergency services are continuing efforts to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba said that a dockworker-mechanic was killed while performing his duties.

“As a result of the attack, production facilities and equipment belonging to port operators were damaged. Administrative and utility buildings, as well as specialized equipment, were among the facilities affected,” Kuleba said.

The strike also sparked a fire at one of the port terminals. Kuleba thanked emergency responders and all relevant services for their prompt response at the scene.

“This is yet another act of Russian terror against civilians and civilian infrastructure,” Kuleba stressed.
