Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Montenegro’s Ambassador to Ukraine, Borjanka Simičević, signed amendments to the free trade agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of Montenegro.
This was reported by the press service of the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.
According to the statement, the signed protocol updates the rules for determining the origin of goods in line with the revised Regional Convention on Pan-Euro-Mediterranean preferential rules of origin. In particular, it provides for simplified rules for international trade and reduced administrative barriers for businesses.
It is expected that the implementation of the protocol will create new opportunities to increase exports of Ukrainian goods to the Montenegrin market, as well as to integrate Ukrainian producers into international value chains.
A free trade agreement between Ukraine and Montenegro has been in force since January 1, 2013.
According to the State Statistics Service, in January–September 2025 bilateral trade in goods amounted to USD 124.1 million, including exports of USD 30.4 million and imports of USD 93.7 million.
