Ukraine imposed sanctions against the presidents of the Olympic Committee and the Tennis Federation of the Russian Federation

Ukraine has imposed sanctions against the President of the Olympic Committee of the Russian Federation and the President of the Russian Tennis Federation.

This is stated in the decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky No. 114/2023 of February 26. In particular, the president put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine "On the application and amendment of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)".

In particular, sanctions were imposed against the President of the Russian Olympic Committee, member of International Olympics Committee Vitaly Smirnov, President of the Russian Tennis Federation, member of the IOC Shamil Tarpishchev, Russian athlete, Olympic champion, member of the International Olympic Committee Elena Isinbayeva, swimmer, cavalier and an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee of Alexander Popov.

Sanctions are imposed for a period of 50 years.
