Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva held a meeting with the delegation of the Czech Republic led by the Prime Minister's Advisor for Foreign and Security Policy Tomáš Pojar.

The Czech delegation also included representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Agency for Intergovernmental Defense Cooperation.

Ihor Zhovkva expressed gratitude to the government of the Czech Republic for the firm political support of Ukraine, as well as the provision of significant practical assistance aimed at overcoming the consequences of Russian military aggression.

An important topic of conversation was the interaction of the parties in the framework of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2022. The Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine thanked the Czech Republic for actively supporting the decision to grant our country the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union.

"Ukraine is determined to ensure the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission. We expect that our fruitful interaction with the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU will make it possible to create all the prerequisites for starting the negotiation process regarding Ukraine's accession to the EU," Ihor Zhovkva emphasized.

The Deputy Head of the Office of the President thanked Tomáš Pojar for the fact that one of the priorities of the Czech Presidency is the support for Ukraine, in particular the post-war recovery of our country. Hope was expressed for the leadership of the Czech Republic in consolidating the efforts in this direction not only of EU member states, but also of the entire international community.

Ihor Zhovkva called on the Czech side to consider the possibility of patronage over one of the cities or regions of our state.

The interlocutors exchanged views on possible ways of cooperation between Ukraine and the Czech Republic in the context of humanitarian demining of the liberated territories of our country.

At the end of the meeting, Ihor Zhovkva and Tomáš Pojar coordinated positions on measures of bilateral high-level political dialogue for the near future.
