The first Ukrainian agricultural hub in Africa, established in Ghana as part of the Food from Ukraine initiative, has delivered humanitarian aid to refugees affected by the recent floods in Accra.
The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine reported the initiative.
The aid handover ceremony took place on July 8 with the participation of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Ghana and the Ghana Refugee Board. The humanitarian action was carried out by the Ridne consortium (Ridne Humanitarian Food Hub in Ghana) in partnership with the Ukrainian community in Ghana.
The humanitarian shipment included food supplies and essential items for refugee families affected by the natural disaster.
During a meeting with Ghana Refugee Board Executive Secretary Nasibatu Taahiru Swalla, Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in Ghana Ivan Lukachuk emphasized the importance of supporting the most vulnerable groups of the population.
He also highlighted the work of the Ridne consortium and the Ukrainian community in Ghana, which joined efforts to provide assistance to those affected. According to him, Ukrainian partners have already proven themselves as reliable participants in humanitarian initiatives, opening up opportunities for further cooperation.
