The Ukrainian Book Institute, Goethe-Institut in Ukraine, the Ukrainian Institute, and the Art Arsenal will represent Ukraine at the world's main book event, the Frankfurt Book Fair. From October 16 to 20, 2024, the fair will feature a national stand, an Art Arsenal stand, UA Comix, and a separate stand by publisher Oleksandr Savchuk.

This year's focus theme for Ukraine is "Reclaiming the Voice." We are reclaiming our voice on the global stage and showcasing not only Ukrainian resilience but also the diversity and uniqueness of Ukrainian books. We aim to highlight new voices in our literature, present new German translations, and share Ukrainian classics, reportage, and poetry.

The Ukrainian Institute has invited five contemporary Ukrainian authors to participate in the Ukrainian programme. Among them is Sofiya Andrukhovych, this year's laureate of the prestigious German literary award named after Hermann Hesse, which she received for her novel "Amadoka." This work has been published in German translation by Oleksandr Kratochvil and Maria Weissenböck in three parts. The author will participate in events on the stages of the Frankfurt Book Fair and at the Ukrainian national stand.

One of the key events of the Ukrainian Institute at the Frankfurt Book Fair is the presentation of the catalog of translations of contemporary Ukrainian literature, which participants of the Ukrainian Institute's translation school in Germany have been working on throughout the year. Four authors whose works are included in this anthology will participate in its presentation and other events of the Ukrainian programme. These include the well-known writer, translator, and researcher Yevheniya Kuznetsova, writer and poet Anna Gruver, writer, poet, and reporter Myroslav Laiuk, and historian and researcher Radomyr Mokryk.

Alim Aliyev, Deputy General Director of the Ukrainian Institute, and Kateryna Ritz-Rakul, head of the Ukrainian Institute's representation in Germany, will participate in a series of discussions within the Ukrainian programme.
