OUTEX is an app for sports and rehabilitation developed by Ukrainian teenagers. It uses AI to identify key points on the body, analyze user movements, and assess the correctness of exercises.
The startup team presented their development at the final of the World Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge in New York.
The OUTEX app can be useful for two groups of people. The first group is active individuals who want to engage in sports anytime and anywhere, regardless of circumstances. The second group is those in need of rehabilitation but who, for various reasons, cannot attend specialized institutions.
"Our ideology is a holistic approach to fitness. Using a neural network, we analyse how you perform exercises, check your technique and give you the best advice for your next workout. We analyse data from your workouts to provide you with the most effective recommendations. We’re not just an app - we’re your personal fitness trainer in your pocket!" written in an Outex Sport ideology.
However, the story of OUTEX actually began with the idea of creating a fitness bracelet for professional athletes, conceived by the startup’s co-founders, Ernest Laptev and Henadiy Chaliy.
Eventually, the idea evolved into the app that the team is currently working on. Yulia Tkachenko, another team member, suggested adding rehabilitation features to the app.
"I once had a knee injury, and due to the full-scale war, I had to pause my recovery. So, I wanted to help people who found themselves in a similar situation. Moreover, many soldiers and civilians now need rehabilitation," says the young woman.
Currently, the team is adding sports exercises to the app and will soon focus on rehabilitation exercises.
