Ukrhydroenergo has announced a procurement for legal representation services in international arbitration regarding compensation for losses caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station, which was blown up by Russian forces in June last year.
PJSC Ukrhydroenergo is a Ukrainian state-owned enterprise that administers many major hydro power plants along the Dnieper and Dniester rivers.
The estimated cost of the procurement is 364 million UAH.
"Following the explosion of the Kakhovka Dam, considered the largest technogenic disaster since World War II, Ukrhydroenergo has initiated arbitration proceedings against the Russian Federation," the state company stated.
Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka Dam—a station that provides southern Ukraine with electricity and fresh water.
In March 2024, an official notification was sent to the Russian government and other official representatives about resolving the dispute under the Agreement between the Governments of Ukraine and Russia on Mutual Protection of Investments.
The company notes that preference is given to firms with experience in successfully representing in investment and international commercial arbitrations. It is recalled that Russia blew up the Kakhovka Dam on June 6, 2023.
