Ukroboronprom (JSC "Ukrainian Defense Industry") has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the European aerospace corporation Airbus.
This was announced by the state concern’s press service on June 23 following the international airshow in Le Bourget.
The signing of the tripartite document marks the first step toward establishing maintenance and repair services for Airbus aviation equipment operated in Ukraine. The agreement includes training Ukrainian specialists who will later receive instructor status to work with Airbus aviation systems.
As part of the agreement, Airbus representatives plan to visit Ukraine to form training groups and provide the necessary technical documentation.
“Among the world’s high-tech companies, trust in our defense-industrial complex is growing, particularly in Ukroboronprom and its enterprises,” said Ukroboronprom CEO Oleh Hulyak.
The state concern emphasizes that cooperation with Airbus could be the first stage of a broader partnership with European players in aviation and related sectors.
Although Airbus is best known as a manufacturer of civilian airliners, the company is also actively involved in military aviation. Airbus produces, among others, the Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet (operated in the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia), the A400M Atlas military transport aircraft (France, Germany, Spain, UK, Malaysia), the C295 light transport aircraft (India, Poland, Egypt, Portugal, Brazil), the A330 MRTT tanker (Australia, France, South Korea, Saudi Arabia), and the Eurodrone combat drone (under development for Germany, France, and Italy).
