In 2023, every tenth new individual business in Poland was registered by Ukrainians. The number of Ukrainian-owned sole proprietorships increased by 67% compared to 2022, according to data from Rzeczpospolita, citing the Central Register and Information on Economic Activity.
Before the start of the war in 2022, Ukrainian citizens were registering over 200 sole proprietorships per month in Poland. However, in the subsequent months, these figures began to increase rapidly. In March 2022, almost 600 Ukrainian individual entrepreneurs were registered, in April nearly 1300, and in June, 1700 new businesses founded by Ukrainians emerged. In the following months, Ukrainian citizens were registering around 2000 sole proprietorships in Poland.
In 2023, the pace of new private entrepreneurs continued to grow. In September and October, the number of new registrations reached 2700-2800 per month.
According to statistics, in 2023, Ukrainians opened 30,325 new sole proprietorships in Poland. During this time, a total of 299,000 individual entrepreneurs appeared in the country.
In 2022, 18,139 Ukrainian-owned sole proprietorships were registered, which is 67% less than in 2023. In total, Ukrainians registered 48,464 sole proprietorships in Poland from 2022 to 2023.
