European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that Ukraine will receive a new payment of 3.5 billion euros from the EU in March.

She made the statement during the International Ukraine Support Summit in Kyiv.

Von der Leyen stated, "Europe is here to strengthen Ukraine at this critical moment."

"Europe is here to strengthen Ukraine in this critical moment. I can announce that a new EUR 3.5 billion payment for Ukraine will arrive already in March," she added.

The European Commission head emphasized that the war in Ukraine remains the most central and consequential crisis for Europe's future. Putin is trying harder than ever to win this war on the ground. His goal remains Ukraine's capitulation.

"It is not only the destiny of Ukraine that is at stake. It is Europe's destiny. So our first priority remains to empower Ukraine's resistance. So far, our Union and Member States have supported Ukraine to the tune of EUR 134 billion. That is more than anybody else," von der Leyen concluded.

The European Union has unveiled an ambitious energy security package aimed at ensuring a resilient, secure, and competitive energy system for Ukraine. By the end of next year, Ukraine's and Moldova's electricity markets will be fully integrated with the EU's electricity market. The EU also plans to fully harness the potential of Ukraine's extensive gas storage facilities, with 80% of them located near EU Member States. Additionally, the EU has adopted its 16th sanctions package, which includes increased punitive measures against Russia, contingent on the country's willingness to negotiate a lasting peace agreement.
