The US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, General Mark Milley, praised the Ukrainian military in handling American weapons.
He stated this at a briefing after a meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Support to Ukraine ("Rammstein-3") in Brussels.
Milley named the fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "first-class shooters" on M777 howitzers. The American general expects that the Ukrainian military will be good in handling MLRS HIMARS.
At the same time, Milley downplayed criticism that the United States is not providing Ukraine with all the requested weapons.
"So no weapon system, a single weapon system, ever changes the scale," Milley said.
If the Ukrainians are properly using the weapons systems that the US and other allies are providing, Milley added, "they should be able to hit a significant number of targets."
Joe Biden announced the allocation of another package of military assistance to Ukraine worth $ 1 billion in weapons. The package includes additional artillery, coastal defenses, and ammunition for the MLRS.
