The entry of vessels into Ukrainian seaports has been temporarily suspended due to the security situation, while the government is working on measures to ensure export stability.
This was reported by Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi.
“Just yesterday (July 21), four or five vessels were entering the ports. As of today (July 22), vessel arrivals have been suspended. The state has not imposed any restrictions; this is a decision made by shipowners,” Vysotskyi said.
According to him, the stable operation of the maritime corridor is a matter of national security, and the government is working on solutions to help restore shipping. However, the minister did not disclose details yet.
“First, we need to consolidate all proposals, after which the decisions will be communicated further,” he added.
At the same time, Vysotskyi noted that the situation remains highly dynamic, making it too early to assess long-term consequences for exports.
The minister also urged producers not to rush into selling their products unless there is an urgent need.
“If it is not critical, the recommendation for any producer is not to rush with decisions. There is enough storage capacity, and we can accommodate the projected harvest volumes of spring crops,” Vysotskyi stressed.
The intensification of Russian attacks on vessels has prompted some shipowners to suspend calls to Ukrainian ports. They are reviewing freight agreements or canceling bookings.
In the first half of 2026, Ukrainian seaports handled 42.4 million tonnes of cargo despite Russian attacks, which intensified in July.
