President Volodymyr Zelensky assured that the documents signed today in Paris signal that Europe and the entire “Coalition of the Willing” are ready to work seriously to ensure real security.
He made this statement during a joint press conference in Paris with the leaders of France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and U.S. Special Presidential Representative Steve Witkoff, following the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing.
“It is important that today there are substantial documents from the Coalition of the Willing – not just words, but concrete actions. These include the joint declaration of all Coalition countries and the trilateral declaration of France, the UK, and Ukraine. The documents exist, and they signal how seriously Europe and the entire Coalition are ready to work for real security,” Zelensky said.
He emphasized that these documents will pave the way for further political-level agreements on the functioning of the Coalition of the Willing after the war ends.
“With these documents, we strengthen further legal work in countries with parliaments so that at the moment diplomacy succeeds in ending the war, we are fully prepared to deploy the Coalition of the Willing forces,” the President added.
According to him, the details of the security architecture the Coalition will provide have been worked out in other documents. “It has been determined which countries are ready to take leadership in elements of security guarantees on land, in the air, at sea, and in reconstruction. It has been defined what forces are needed, how they will be commanded, at what levels, and what the command structure will be,” Zelenskyy noted.
He also highlighted the need to monitor ceasefire compliance and stressed continued support for the Ukrainian armed forces even after the war.
“It must be absolutely clear how the appropriate size of the Ukrainian army will be supported and funded. Today I spoke about this separately. We consider our key element to be our Ukrainian force – all other elements will operate effectively based on our army,” Zelensky said.
As reported, following today’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in Paris, President Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer signed a Declaration of Intent between Ukraine, the French Republic, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland regarding the deployment of multinational forces to support Ukraine’s defense, reconstruction, and strategic resilience.
