President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on Ukraine’s participation in the Creative Europe programme.

The law ratifies the Agreement between Ukraine and the EU on amendments to the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union regarding Ukraine’s participation in the “Creative Europe” programme (2021–2027).

According to the law’s summary on the parliament’s website, the ratification will ensure Ukraine’s involvement in all activities of the EU’s “Creative Europe” programme, including the “Media” subprogramme (with a budget of €1.3 billion), creating additional opportunities for the development of the national audiovisual sector.

The implementation of this initiative will lay the groundwork for Ukraine’s full participation in one of the EU’s largest cultural and humanitarian programmes, which provides additional incentives and opportunities, including financial support, for the development of the culture and creative industries sector. It encourages close cooperation between cultural institutions from different European countries, thereby fostering Ukraine’s active involvement in pan-European cultural processes.

Full participation of Ukraine in all competitive subprogrammes of the “Creative Europe” programme will support the country’s strategic course toward full EU membership by further developing Ukraine’s sectoral integration with the European Union through active cooperation in the cultural sphere.
