Volvo Trucks has stopped deliveries to a dealer that routed a truck to Russia in violation of sanctions, and the authorities of the country where the intermediary is located have launched an investigation, said company representative Claes Eliasson, as reported by Aftonbladet.

The deal, which took place in May this year, became known after the Russian Ski Federation reported purchasing the truck.

At the end of May, the Federation published news on its official website about acquiring a Volvo FH16 truck. The vehicle was bought to transport a service trailer and became part of the Russian national team’s technical support unit. The announcement included the truck model and the Russian company that purchased it.

Eliasson did not name the foreign intermediary involved in the transaction or the country where the company is located. Volvo Trucks notified authorities of the sanctions violation, noting that releasing additional details could affect the investigation. The specific dealer who sold the truck was identified in part due to the distinctive cab paint.

The Volvo truck incident resembles other cases of vehicles being used to bypass sanctions. In early August, a Lamborghini Aventador supercar was seized in France after an attempt to transport it to Russia, violating restrictions on deliveries of cars costing more than 50,000 euros.
