The social media platform X (Twitter) blocked the page of the Ukrainian gaming festival Indie Cup. According to one of the organizers, Stepan Prokhorenko, the reason might be a mass reporting campaign by Russians who were unhappy with the fundraising efforts for Ukrainian volunteers and the Armed Forces.
The blocking occurred on August 10th. The next day, Prokhorenko announced that X (Twitter) had already rejected three appeals against the suspension, and the Indie Cup page lost over 2,000 subscribers.
"We assume that @gtpindiecup has been suspended due to a mass campaign of reports from Russian citizens because of our fundraising work for Ukrainian volunteers and the armed forces," wrote Stepan Prokhorenko. He also reminded that last year, the organization held the Indie Cup Ukraine, a Festival of Ukrainian Games on Steam, and launched a website about the Ukrainian gaming industry.
Prokhorenko called on concerned users to contact X (Twitter) support, requesting the unblocking of the Indie Cup page. This call was answered by many well-known Western and Ukrainian developers.
