Ukraine and Portugal are discussing humanitarian demining, support and cooperation for private business, as well as investment risk insurance for Ukrainian and Portuguese companies. Portugal also plans to consider the possibility of restoring several infrastructure objects damaged during shelling in the Zhytomyr region. These matters were discussed during a meeting between the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, and the Ambassador of Portugal to Ukraine, Antonio Vasco Alves Machado.

"I want to thank Portugal for its support of Ukraine during this war. It is crucial for enhancing our defense capabilities, but equally important can be the economic support of our country. Ukraine currently needs foreign investments, which is nearly impossible without the implementation of comprehensive instruments for war risk insurance. We hope to deepen cooperation between national export-credit agencies. We are also exploring opportunities to expand financing of programs to support the private sector of the economy, including grant programs for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as humanitarian demining," emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.

In turn, Antonio Vasco Alves Machado stated that Portugal is interested in deepening cooperation with Ukraine. He also confirmed the readiness of the Portuguese state enterprise Parque Escolar to consider the possibility of restoring several objects in the Zhytomyr region.
