The corresponding draft resolution was registered in parliament today.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky proposed to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to support the candidacy of Vasyl Malyuk for the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Today, the corresponding draft resolution #8425 was registered in the parliament.

"I am submitting an idea on the appointment of Vasyl Malyuk to the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine. At the plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, I will personally present this idea," the president's statement says.

In July 2022, the parliament dismissed Ivan Bakanov from the post of head of the Security Service of Ukraine. This was preceded by the publication of Zelensky's decree on removing Bakanov from his duties as head of the SSU. At the same time, Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova was removed from office. Zelensky explained this decision by the fact that there were a significant number of traitors among the employees of both departments in the occupied territory.

On July 18, Zelensky appointed First Deputy Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Vasily Malyuk as interim head of the SBU, a status he has remained in this status ever since.
