The opening of the new border crossing point "Velyka Pallad" – Nodhodos" on the Hungarian border has been announced for April 8.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the Zakarpattia Customs.

"The opening of the international crossing 'Velyka Pallad - Nodhodos' is scheduled for April 8 of this year, with the participation of high-ranking officials from Ukraine and Hungary," the message reads.

Zakarpattia Customs refers to information provided by Hungary's General Consul, József Bácskai, who shared this at a meeting with Acting Head of Zakarpattia Customs, Illya Nizhnikov.

According to the diplomat, the functioning of this crossing point will revitalize cross-border and cultural ties, and will generally have a positive impact on Ukraine's European integration.

For his part, Nizhnikov informed the Hungarian Consul that the customs service had implemented a systematic and comprehensive approach to countering smuggling and corruption.

The discussion also touched on the launch of an industrial park in the village of Batyevo and the village of Batrad, where large volumes of plywood, wooden panels, and veneer will soon be produced for export to the European Union through Hungary. Therefore, heavy vehicles are expected to increase traffic at the vehicle crossing points intended for freight transport.

Nizhnikov also noted that thanks to the Memorandum signed between the State Customs Service of Ukraine and the Hungarian Customs and Financial Protection Service, introducing the Early Warning System for Emergencies on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, all crossing points on this section of the border operate smoothly and rhythmically.

At the end of the meeting, both parties agreed to actively communicate, respond promptly to any issues, and seek ways to resolve them.
