During the night of July 19 (starting at 6:00 p.m. on July 18), Russia launched a massive combined attack against Ukraine using attack drones as well as air- and ground-launched missiles of various types.
The primary target of the attack was Kyiv.
According to Ukraine's Air Force Radio Technical Troops, a total of 166 aerial weapons were detected, including 41 missiles and 125 drones of various types:
- 10 3M22 Zircon anti-ship missiles (launched from Russia's Kursk region);
- 25 Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 missiles (launched from Russia's Bryansk and Kursk regions);
- 3 Oniks anti-ship missiles (launched from the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea);
- 3 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles (launched from aircraft over the Black Sea);
- 125 attack UAVs, including Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, Parodiya decoy drones, and Banderol loitering munitions (launched from Kursk, Oryol, and Millerovo in Russia, as well as Hvardiiske in the temporarily occupied Crimea).
The attack was repelled by Ukrainian Air Force aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 8:30 a.m., Ukraine's air defense destroyed or suppressed 126 aerial targets, including 18 missiles and 108 drones:
- 17 Iskander-M, Zircon, and S-400 missiles;
- 1 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile;
- 108 drones of various types.
Preliminary information as of 8:30 a.m. indicates that 23 missiles and 10 attack drones struck 20 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at 18 locations.
