Negotiations with the Russians regarding the return of the bodies of fallen Ukrainian soldiers are ongoing constantly.

This was stated by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Military Intelligence Directorate, during the presentation of the film "Return. Heroes on the Shield."

"Discussions with the enemy regarding the return of our prisoners of war and the remains of our fallen heroes are ongoing continuously and regularly," he noted.

According to Yusov, repatriation is one of the priorities for the Security and Defense Forces and all components of the Coordination Headquarters for the treatment of prisoners of war.

"This is one of the few areas where contact with the enemy continues and remains throughout this time – the return of our defenders and the return of destroyed invaders. This work continues constantly," Yusov assured.

The Military Intelligence Directorate representative explained that, in certain cases, depending on the situation at the front and various other factors, such consultations may take place in an emergency, urgent, or extraordinary mode. He noted that the topic of returning Ukrainian heroes, searching for fallen Ukrainian heroes, and bringing them home on shields has unfortunately become an integral part of Ukrainian society's life since 2014 and especially after the full-scale invasion.

"And this is a constant, painstaking job. We thank everyone who participates at different stages in the search, the return of bodies, and the identification of individuals; this is enormous work," Yusov emphasized.

Over the three years of the war, Ukraine has brought home the remains of 7,017 fallen defenders.
