The sole power line supplying electricity to the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) went offline today, the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy reported on Telegram.
“At 16:56, the only transmission line through which ZNPP received power from the Ukrainian energy system was disconnected. The plant switched to diesel generators for its own needs. This constitutes a serious violation of normal operating conditions,” the statement said.
The Ministry noted that during the entire period of Russian occupation, ZNPP has repeatedly lost power due to Russian shelling and damage to energy infrastructure. The current incident, the ministry emphasized, once again demonstrates that Russian occupation is the main threat to the safe operation of the plant.
“The Ministry of Energy urges the international community to take decisive action—it is necessary to increase pressure on Russia to achieve the swiftest possible demilitarization and de-occupation of the plant. Returning ZNPP to full and legitimate Ukrainian control is the only way to restore nuclear safety in the region,” the statement added.
