As a result of a helicopter crash in Brovary, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs died.

"This morning, January 18, a State Emergency Service helicopter crashed in Brovary. As a result of a crash, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs died: the minister, the first deputy minister and the state secretary," said the head of the National Police, Ihor Klymenko.

According to Klymenko, 18 dead are now known, including 3 children. He specified that 9 of the dead were on board the helicopter.

At 08:20 in the city of Brovary, Kyiv region, due to a helicopter crash of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine EU-225 (tail number 54), a kindergarten building was damaged, followed by fire, windows were broken in a 14-storey residential building and 3 cars. At 09:06, the fire in the building was localized in an area of ​​500 square meters, and at 09:28 it was extinguished.

"29 victims are in the hospital, of which 15 are children. All relevant and specialized services are working on the spot. The site of the incident is being examined," reports the head of the Kyiv Regional Administration, Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to media reports, Interior Minister Denys Monastyrsky was on board, as well as his first deputy, Yevgen Yenin, and State Secretary, Yury Lubkovich.

As the speaker of the Air Force Command, Yuriy Ignat said on the telethon air, the helicopter that crashed in Brovary, Kyiv region, was performing the tasks of the State Emergency Service.

"Unfortunately, this happened to the State Emergency Service helicopter, which was performing its tasks. There are a certain number of such helicopters in Ukraine now, performing tasks for the country's defense," Ignat noted that details should be expected from the State Emergency Service.

It is too early to talk about the causes of the plane crash in Brovary, said Yury Ignat.

"The commission, which will include various aviation specialists, will investigate the reasons. It will not be 1-2 days, because the investigation of the crash takes some time," he stressed.

According to him, a state commission will most likely be created, which will include various aviation specialists: "They are investigating the causes of what happened and what factors influenced the helicopter crashed."
