Autumn sowing of winter crops begins in Ukraine, notwithstanding the war

Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine reported that Ukrainian farmers have started the autumn sowing campaign, with 727,500 hectares already sown. 

The sowing of winter grain crops has begun in Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Ternopil, Kherson, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv regions, covering a total of 42,200 hectares. Farmers in nearly all regions are sowing winter rapeseed, with 685,300 hectares planted.

Specifically, the following have been sown:

  • Winter wheat: 39,900 hectares
  • Winter barley: 1,100 hectares
  • Winter rye: 1,200 hectares
  • Winter rapeseed: 685,300 hectares

Farmers in Vinnytsia, Volyn, Poltava, and Ternopil regions have completed the sowing of winter rapeseed.
