Russia is recruiting soldiers after the creation of the Leningrad Military District. It is possible that they will also be sent to war with Ukraine.

According to the summary, there have been announcements for recruitment into the new 44th Army Corps in Luzhi, within the recently created Leningrad Military District.

"Russia is making efforts to expand its forces in the north-west of the country, as most of its forces remain dedicated to operations in Ukraine," the statement said.

According to British intelligence, Russia will almost certainly have to decide whether the new units, such as the 44th Army Corps, will remain stationed in their garrisons after their creation or whether they will be transferred for operations in Ukraine to support combat capabilities there.

"Newly established units have previously been immediately committed to Ukraine, and it is almost certain that the need to sustain operations is hampering Russia's wider force expansion ambitions," the Ministry of Defense of Britain noted.
