As a result of a successful operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Russian Baltic Fleet minesweeper Alexander Obukhov has been rendered inoperable.

The vessel, which was based in the city of Baltiysk and was about to enter combat duty, sustained significant damage when water entered the engine through a mysterious hole in the exhaust system, causing the Obukhov to capsize.

The Russian minesweeper is now undergoing major repairs, which could pose a serious problem, as the damaged M-503 engine is extremely scarce. Repairing this key installation on the ship is technically complex and costly.

Interestingly, the disabled enemy ship had recently undergone repairs in Saint Petersburg in July of this year.

The Obukhov is the second Russian Baltic Fleet ship to be incapacitated in the last six months.
