The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has released information about the structure of the Russian 9M723 “Iskander-M” ballistic missile and the enterprises involved in its production.

The Intelligence Directorate reported this on Facebook.

In the “Foreign Components in Weapons” section of the War & Sanctions portal, a list of the missile’s components and about 50 enterprises involved in its production has been published.

The main contractor for state orders for the development and production of the missiles is the Russian Machine-Building Design Bureau. The missiles are manufactured at the facilities of the Votkinsk Plant.

Both enterprises have long been under sanctions from most countries in the sanctions coalition, as are most of the other producers of components for the Iskander ballistic missile.

However, 13 of the 49 listed enterprises are currently not under sanctions from any country in the coalition.

Among them are the Morozov Plant—one of the manufacturers of solid-fuel charges for Iskander engines; the companies PSB-Technologies and Pantes—producers of circuit board kits for the Kometa system, which Russia has begun installing on 9M723 missiles instead of decoys; and the Serpukhov “Metalist” plant—manufacturer of accelerometers for the missile’s platformless inertial navigation system.

The Main Intelligence Directorate emphasized that the weapons Russia is using against Ukraine today may, in the future, be used by Russia and its allies against other states. In particular, Russia has already helped North Korea modernize its KN-23/KN-24 ballistic missiles.

The “Foreign Components in Weapons” section of the War & Sanctions portal now includes more than 5,200 foreign components identified in 181 types of weaponry used by Russia, 12 interactive diagrams of Russian and Iranian strike systems, and more than 280 enterprises involved in their production.
