The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense, in the “Instruments of War” section of the War&Sanctions portal, has published information on 50 pieces of foreign technological equipment used by Russian enterprises involved in the production of weapons and military hardware.
Among the exposed equipment are:
- waterjet cutting systems made by the Czech manufacturer PTV, used by enterprises involved in the production of shipborne and coastal radar stations, equipment for Russia’s strategic missile forces, and security systems for military facilities;
- a JVM-360LS CNC milling machine from the US company JET Tools, used by a manufacturer of components for Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- a Chinese TAYU TY-200S injection molding machine, operated by a Russian manufacturer of guidance systems, sights, and all-day reconnaissance complexes.

Russian defense industry enterprises actively use leasing schemes to obtain foreign equipment instead of direct purchases. This practice in some cases makes it possible to conceal the end user and serves as a tool to circumvent sanctions restrictions.
To prevent their technologies from being used to support war and destabilizing actions, global equipment manufacturers should introduce the practice of continuous tracking and monitoring of the location of their equipment.
As of today, the “Instruments of War” section of the War&Sanctions portal contains data on 1,454 pieces of foreign equipment used by 181 Russian defense industry enterprises.
Work on identifying Russia’s instruments of war is ongoing.
