The production process of various modifications of Kh-59 missiles in Russia was disrupted due to an attack on Smolensk, as reported by Russian media on October 1.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine confirmed that on that day, drones attacked the local aviation plant, and 3 out of 4 UAVs hit their targets.
"On October 1, 2023, as a result of an attack on the Smolensk Aviation Plant, the production process of various modifications of Kh-59 missiles was disrupted," the statement said.
According to Main Intelligence Directorate, the attack caused significant damage to the production facilities of the Smolensk Aviation Plant.
It is worth noting that the Kh-59 missile is a Russian air-to-ground missile capable of covering a distance of up to 280 km. The Russian army frequently uses these missiles to shell military and civilian targets in Ukraine.
