The European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) has increased the maximum allowable electricity export capacity for Ukraine and Moldova.

The new limit is 900 megawatts (MW), which is 250 MW higher than the previous level, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy.

“The maximum export capacity of electricity from Ukraine and Moldova to EU countries has increased to 900 MW. This is the result of cooperation between transmission system operators within the East Europe Capacity Calculation Region (EE CCR) and the regional coordination center TSCnet,” the statement said.

It is noted that the increased export capacity will help balance Ukraine’s power system and allow electricity producers to earn additional revenue.

“The new limit is valid until August 1, after which the maximum export capacity will be reviewed monthly. During weekly assessments of the grid’s condition, the export volume may be adjusted based on operational security requirements,” commented Vitalii Zaichenko, Chairman of the Board of Ukrenergo.

As of May 1, the maximum allowable export capacity for Ukraine and Moldova was 650 MW.
