In the first ten months of 2025, Ukraine exported 36,400 tons of honey worth over $84 million.

This was reported by Taras Vysotsky, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, during a forum dedicated to the EU integration of Ukraine’s honey sector.

He noted that Ukraine consistently ranks among the world’s top five honey exporters, with more than 70% of this year’s exports going to EU countries.

“Ukrainian beekeeping continues to develop even under the challenging conditions of war. Ukraine is one of the leading honey exporters to the EU. This demonstrates the high quality, trust, and competitiveness of our products. The development of digital tools, modernization of production, and strengthened quality control gradually create opportunities to scale exports not only to the EU but also to markets in Asia and the Middle East,” the deputy minister said.

According to him, Ukraine needs to ensure full compliance with EU standards and improve traceability, clearly recording the origin of the honey, the apiaries that produced it, and how quality was checked. This approach will open up new and long-term market opportunities for Ukrainian beekeepers.

Vysotsky noted that there are currently 62,697 registered apiaries and over 2.84 million bee colonies in the Apiary Passport Registry.

“Experts estimate that EU market integration could increase Ukrainian honey exports by 25–30% over the next three years. Our task is to do everything possible to make this forecast a reality,” he concluded.
