The European Council meeting scheduled for December 14 and 15 is an opportunity for the European Commission to confirm that Europe will support Ukraine as much as necessary.

This was stated by the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in Le Parisien.

"We owe our current peace and prosperity to the victory of allies in World War II, as well as the peace made possible by the construction of Europe and NATO's protection. Ukrainians are fighting for the same, and our duty and interests are to stand by their side for as long as needed," she said.

Von der Leyen warned that Russia's victory in Ukraine poses threats to its European neighbors, some of whom are members of the European Union.

"Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not hide his ambitions to recreate Russia with imperial dimensions of the past. Therefore, Russia's victory will affect the stability of our continent, our ability to live in peace, and our long-term prosperity," she emphasized, adding that "only Ukrainians should determine the terms for a fair and strong peace."
