On the night of Monday, February 17, Russia and Ukraine exchanged massive drone strikes. As a result of one of the attacks "near the oil refinery" in the village of Ilsky in the Krasnodar region, a fire broke out, reports Shot.
Judging by the published footage, the drone caused a powerful fire. Astra also reports, citing local residents, that drones attacked the oil refinery. Information about the fire at the plant was provided by VChK-OGPU and Mash, referring to eyewitnesses.
The Ilsky Oil Refinery is owned by the Kuban Oil and Gas Company. Over the past year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked the facility twice: on June 21 and February 9. As a result of the latest strike, the largest primary oil processing unit, AVT-6, with a capacity of 3.6 million tons per year, was damaged. In December, more than 70 billion rubles were invested in modernizing the refinery to launch the production of commercial gasoline by the end of 2025.
Later, Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratiev confirmed the "massive UAV attack" on the region's territory. According to him, 12 houses in the village of Ilsky were damaged due to drone debris falling. A woman required medical assistance.
Also in the Krasnodar region, following a UAV attack, the Kropotkinskaya oil pumping station of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium has been shut down.
The company reported the following:
"On February 17, 2025, the oil transportation facility of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium — the Kropotkinskaya pumping station — was attacked by UAVs. The strike was carried out by seven unmanned aerial vehicles. There were no casualties among the station's staff. Oil transportation through the Tengiz-Novorossiysk pipeline system is proceeding at reduced pumping modes, bypassing the station. The Kropotkinskaya station, located in the Caucasus region of Kuban, is the largest oil pumping station of the CPC in the Russian Federation. All shareholders of the international consortium, including representatives from the US and European companies, have been notified of the attack on the civilian facility by UAVs and its consequences," the release states.
The scale of the damage has not been specified.
