The legislative provision for temporary exemption from customs duties and VAT on the import of energy equipment may come into effect as early as August.

Andriy Gerus, the head of the Committee on Energy and Utilities of the Verkhovna Rada, announced this during a meeting on electricity import, as reported by the industry publication ExPro.

"These will be amendments to another law. This provision needs to be supported. I hope it will be adopted as a law by mid-July and will start working from August 1st," Gerus said.

To recap, on July 4th, the Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada supported bill No. 11258 amending the Tax and Customs Codes, which includes exemptions from VAT and customs payments for the import of energy equipment, including generators, solar panels, and energy storage systems.
