Google has announced a $5 million grant to develop the digital labor market ecosystem Obriy, which is being jointly developed by Ukraine’s Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture and the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
According to a statement on the Ministry of Economy’s website, the partnership was announced on June 25 during the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture Oleksii Sobolev, Google Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy in Europe Annette Kroeber-Riel, and Deputy Minister of Economy for Digital Development Oleksandr Tsybort. The project is implemented by the Better Regulation Delivery Office (BRDO).
“Thanks to this partnership, we will be able to more quickly connect job seekers with training and employment opportunities, and businesses with the specialists they need and can access,” the ministry quoted Oleksii Sobolev as saying.
The funding is expected to help scale the system and expand its capabilities for citizens, employers, and the state. The funds will be directed toward developing skills assessment and career navigation services, automated job and training matching, digital user profiles, e-employment tools, and labor market demand forecasting. Annette Kroeber-Riel added that the grant is an investment in Ukraine’s exceptional human potential and ingenuity, showing the world a model for building a resilient economy through technology and artificial intelligence.
