Estonia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Margus Tsahkna, stated that the Russian presidential "elections" were not legitimate, and the legitimate place for Russian leader Vladimir Putin is in the dock in The Hague.
Margus Tsahkna made these remarks upon arriving at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, as reported by European Truth.
The diplomat argued that the so-called Russian presidential "elections" could not be considered legitimate.
"Yesterday, certain actions took place in Russia, they call it 'elections.' But these were not elections. What we saw was not a democratic electoral process," Tsahkna said.
He emphasized that it was a "nomination of Putin" as the leader of Russia.
Tsahkna is convinced that Putin should be held accountable as a war criminal in The Hague.
"These were not legitimate elections. Putin's legitimate place is to be in The Hague as a war criminal. Violations of international law with the conduct of so-called 'elections' in the occupied territories, forcing people to participate in these so-called 'elections'... we understand that this is a farce," the minister added.
