In autumn of this year, two airlines will enter the Moldovan market. This was announced on August 6 by the administrator of Chisinau International Airport, Konstantin Vozian, on his Facebook page. However, he did not specify which carriers are involved.

Currently, Moldova is facing an aviation crisis. Since March, Wizz Air has temporarily suspended flights from Chisinau due to airspace safety concerns over Moldova. The airline stated that it would operate additional flights from Iasi to most destinations. Wizz Air previously operated flights from Chisinau to 13 cities in Austria, Germany, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

In early May, Air Moldova also announced a suspension of its operations. The company filed a petition for accelerated restructuring, believing it would help them avoid bankruptcy.

The problems with Air Moldova came to light in March when the airline canceled dozens of flights. At that time, the company faced the issue of being unable to use three out of four of its aircraft, with one undergoing scheduled maintenance and the other two recalled by the lessor. The lessor recalled the aircraft for safety reasons following Wizz Air's departure from the Moldovan market.

Subsequently, the company urgently leased three aircraft from SkyUp Airlines, ETF Airways, and ALK Airlines. Despite these measures, Air Moldova continued to cancel flights on a large scale. From April to June, around 30,000 passengers were affected by flight cancellations.

The authorities stated that they are actively working to attract several international and regional airlines to Moldova, including LOT, Tarom, Wizz Air, and RyanAir
