Seven out of ten residents of Lithuania believe that Russia poses a real threat to the country's national security.

These are the findings of a survey commissioned by the public broadcaster LRT.

1,115 respondents were asked whether they consider Russia a real threat to Lithuania's national security.

70% of them answered that they consider Russia a threat, with 29% responding "definitely yes" and 41% "rather yes."

About a quarter of the respondents said they do not consider Russia a threat, and 19% did not express a definite opinion or declined to answer.

The only group of the population where opinions significantly differ are permanent residents of Lithuania of other nationalities. Among them, 50% disagree that Russia is a threat, while 31% agree.

Among ethnic Lithuanians, 74% consider Russia a threat.

The survey was conducted from March 15 to 25 by the company Baltijos tyrimai, with a possible margin of error not exceeding 2.9 percentage points.
