In the Netherlands, 59% of Ukrainians who are staying there due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine already have jobs. This was reported by the Central Statistical Bureau (CBS).
"Almost 6 out of 10 Ukrainian refugees already have jobs," the message says.
It is noted that Ukrainians are increasingly finding employment in the Netherlands.
"As of November 1, 2024, 59% of over 92,000 people aged 15 to 65 with Ukrainian citizenship were employed in the Netherlands. This is more than the previous year: as of November 1, 2023, the share of such workers was 55%," the report states.
It is mentioned that Ukrainians who arrived in the Netherlands after Russia's full-scale invasion in late February 2022 do not need additional work permits to be employed.
Ukrainians fleeing the war have a special legal status compared to other asylum seekers, who usually cannot work during the first six months of their stay in the country.
The majority of employed Ukrainians were aged between 25 and 45. Men were employed just as often as women.
Most Ukrainians worked as temporary employees (38%), on call (24%), or had other temporary work contracts (29%). More than half worked full-time (35 hours or more per week): 53%; 15% worked 30-35 hours.
Most Ukrainians worked in business services (50%). This sector includes temporary employment agencies. Besides business services, a significant number of Ukrainians worked in trade, transportation, and hospitality (32%).
In 2022 and 2023, the share of those working as temporary employees and/or in business services decreased. In 2024, this figure remained stable. However, the share of those with permanent employment contracts increased from 5% in November 2023 to 9% a year later.
