An additional anchorage area for Ukrainian grain will be established at the Romanian port of Constanta.
This was announced by the CEO of the state-owned company Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company Dmitry Moskalenko on Facebook.
According to him, the Romanian colleagues informed about the completion of the tender for the organization of this anchorage area.
Dmitry Moskalenko reminded that last year the capacities of the Constanta terminals were not enough to handle the grain flow from Ukraine. Up to 600 barges with grain were waiting for unloading for 30-40 days.
"Since then, most of the Ukrainian agricultural exports have returned to the ports of Odessa region. But the Danube direction remains relevant... However, even under such conditions, the anchorage area will not stand idle. Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company replaces Ukrainian agricultural products with grain from the Middle Danube. It is planned to deliver 200-250 thousand tons to Constanta monthly," he clarified.
He also notes that in case of the return of the main export flow from Ukraine to the Danube, the anchorage area will become a lifeline, significantly increasing the throughput capacity of the Ukrainian logistics model.
