On March 10, in Venice, a Ukrainian soldier on leave saved the life of a local young man who had been stabbed. This was reported by Corriere del Veneto. The soldier himself also confirmed the information.
According to Corriere del Veneto, the incident occurred in the historical center of Venice. The boy was stabbed by a peer, who fled the scene. He is currently being sought by the police. The victim received knife wounds to his arm and leg and began to bleed heavily. The Ukrainian soldier, who was passing by, applied a tourniquet and stopped the bleeding.
"I was nearby with a first aid kit and tourniquets, and by the time the ambulance arrived, he would have bled out," he wrote. Initially, Italian journalists, citing eyewitness accounts, reported that the rescuer was a "Russian tourist." The publication later corrected the mistake.
According to the soldier, when he arrived at the scene, the victim had already lost a lot of blood and was lying pale—he had to revive him several times.
The soldier also mentioned in the comments that he always carries a NATO IFAK first aid kit, which is his "companion on every leave."
