In Luhansk, high Russian activity is currently being recorded, with most of the assault actions taking place in the Toretsk direction. This was reported by the spokesperson of the operational-tactical group Luhansk, Dmytro Zaporozhets, during a live broadcast.
"Yesterday, the enemy's activity was excessively high. Last week, for example, there were 42 combat engagements, with 20 on the Siversky direction, 18 on the Toretsk direction, and 4 others. The enemy is showing activity not only in assault operations but also in the use of artillery and tactical aviation against Kostiantynivka. Particularly affected are settlements like Sloviansk, Kramatorsk, and Druzhkivka," said Zaporozhets.
According to the spokesperson, the situation on each of the three directions varies. On the Toretsk direction, artillery activity has decreased, and the number of offensive operations has increased. Intelligence reports also indicate that some units of the 150th Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian forces have been redeployed to this direction from the Kurakhiv sector, and certain units from the Pokrovsk direction are also joining the assault operations on the Toretsk direction.
"Most of the assault actions are happening specifically in the city of Toretsk. In the Chasiv Yar or Kramatorsk direction, the situation has changed in such a way that the enemy has been actively accumulating forces. One of the political objectives was to capture this city by March 1. The last major assault with the use of equipment was on March 6, and now the enemy is actively accumulating forces again for an assault, and artillery shelling has increased during this period," the spokesperson reported.
He did not rule out the possibility that the commander of the 98th Airborne Division could be removed from his position for failing to carry out the Russian command's political decision regarding the capture of Chasiv Yar.
Zaporozeh also noted an increase in artillery shelling. While less than 150 artillery shells were recorded per day recently, 237 were recorded the previous day.
Reporting on the situation on the Siversky direction, the spokesperson said that a large number of personnel is involved in assault operations.
"On the Siversky direction, a large number of personnel is usually involved in assault operations. For example, yesterday, 21 units of armored vehicles, 24 APCs, 3 tanks, light automotive equipment, and Baghis were used across different units. The tactics are more mass-based, and more equipment is being used," Zaporozhets added.
