Industrial production in Ukraine in June this year decreased by 0.3% compared to June last year and by 6.2% compared to May of this year, according to the State Statistics Service (Derzhstat).
Due to this decline, the overall growth of industrial production for the first half of 2024 compared to the same period last year slowed to 8.1%, down from 9.9% at the end of May.
The decrease in production in June is attributed to a decline in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, which fell by 11.2%. However, the manufacturing sector recorded a growth of 0.6%, while mining and quarrying increased by 1.4%.
Notably, growth in June 2024 compared to June 2023 was observed in metallurgy, with a rise of 34%, and in mining and quarrying, which increased by 1.4% due to a 30.1% rise in the extraction of metal ores and a 3.2% increase in coke and refined petroleum production.
Overall, for the first half of 2024, industrial production in Ukraine grew by 11% in the manufacturing sector, by 9.3% in mining and quarrying, and by 1.5% in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning.
The volume of industrial products sold in January-June this year reached 1,707.9 billion UAH, of which 351.7 billion UAH were exported.
State Statistics Service also noted that in May this year, production growth was recorded at 3.6% compared to May last year, 11.6% in April, and 5% in March.
According to revised data, industrial production in Ukraine increased by 6.8% in 2023, following a decline of 36.7% in 2022.
